Job summary

CRB Group in Irvine, CA is offering a Process Utilities Engineer Intern position for Summer 2027. You will work under a mentor to help design and engineer utility systems supporting manufacturing operations.

This internship focuses on hands-on project work, exposure to life sciences and food & beverage industries, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. Candidates should be pursuing a relevant engineering degree and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, BioProcess Engineering or Architectural Engineering
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
• Interest in the Food & Beverage or Life Sciences industry strongly preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop actionable insights
• Must be willing to communicate and collaborate with multiple disciplines and other internal and external stakeholders (vendors, clients and contractors)
• Eagerness to learn about the AEC industry and apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering applications

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement project deliverables under mentorship.
• Design and engineer critical utility equipment and distribution systems for manufacturing operations.
• Perform engineering calculations including heat transfer and hydraulic pressure drop.
• Create Block & Process Flow Diagrams.
• Produce User Requirements Specifications.
• Compile Equipment List, Equipment General Arrangements, and Equipment Datasheets.
• Prepare Utility Summary and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines, vendors, clients and contractors.
