Job summary

Phillips 66’s Sweeny Refinery is seeking an Operator Intern to support daily refinery operations under the supervision of the Production Superintendent. Applicants must be in the last year of a Process Technology degree program and enrolled by January 2027.

The internship starts February 2027 and relocation aid is not provided. The role includes hands-on operations, sampling, work-order initiation, and adherence to safety procedures while coordinating with the shift team.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in final year of a Process Technology degree program
• GPA 2.5+ on a 4.0 scale
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Valid driver’s license
• Willing to follow safety rules and trainings
• Willing to work overtime and 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment and operations
• Take samples and read process streams
• Issue work orders and permits for unit work
• Ensure safe process operations of equipment
• Communicate clearly with team during shifts
• Work 12-hour shifts, with possible nights and weekends
• Respond to emergencies and follow procedures
• Complete required safety and regulatory training
• Assist with maintenance projects and cost-reduction opportunities
