Job summary

Oerlikon is hiring a Process Technician for our Westbury, NY facility on the first shift (6:00am to 2:30pm). You will set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot thermal spray and related equipment to ensure safe, efficient production.

Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail are essential. You will participate in preventive maintenance, verify product quality with gauges and microscopes, and document process parameters in the MPP and systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of manufacturing, machine operation, or process technician experience preferred.
• Experience with thermal spray, plasma, HVOF, or similar industrial processes preferred.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting and equipment maintenance knowledge.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read gauges, operating parameters, and work instructions.
• Experience using microscopes and measuring devices for quality verification.
• Ability to safely operate industrial equipment and material handling devices.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to pass respiratory and medical evaluations required for PPE.

Responsibilities

• Set up, start, operate, adjust, and monitor manufacturing equipment per SOPs.
• Load, transfer, and handle raw materials, components, and finished goods using approved equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and basic repairs to maximize uptime.
• Monitor product quality and equipment performance during production runs.
• Calibrate, configure, and adjust thermal spray guns and auxiliary equipment as required.
• Monitor process parameters and adjust as needed.
• Use gauges and measuring devices to verify quality and equipment condition.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues including leaks and nozzle wear.
• Document equipment settings, maintenance activities, and process parameters in required systems.
• Perform equipment tear-downs and corrective maintenance when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment per safety standards.
