Job summary

Oerlikon is seeking a Process Technician for the 2nd shift (2:00pm to 10:30pm) at our Westbury, NY facility. You will set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot thermal spray and related equipment to ensure safe, efficient production with quality results.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of manufacturing, machine operation, or process technician experience preferred.
• Experience with thermal spray, plasma, HVOF, or similar industrial processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, start, operate, adjust, and monitor manufacturing equipment in accordance with SOPs.
• Load, transfer, and handle raw materials, components, and finished goods using forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, and other approved equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and basic repairs to maximize equipment uptime.
• Monitor product quality and equipment performance throughout production runs.
• Calibrate, configure, and adjust thermal spray guns and auxiliary equipment according to established process requirements.
• Monitor process parameters including voltage, current, gas flow, and powder feed rates, making adjustments as required.
• Utilize gauges, microscopes, measuring devices, and hand tools to verify product quality and equipment condition.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues including clogged hoses, nozzle wear, leaks, and process instability.
• Document equipment settings, maintenance activities, process parameters, and troubleshooting actions within the MPP and other required systems.
• Perform equipment tear-downs, component replacement, corrective maintenance, and rework activities when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety standards.
