Job summary

Nordson EFD is seeking an experienced Mold Technician to set up molds and startup/adjust molding processes in a manufacturing environment. You will work with a team to produce samples for First Piece Inspection and troubleshoot dimensional or visual issues such as flow marks and splay.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; plastics injection molding training preferred.
• 2-5 years’ experience with molds in manufacturing; mold setting and processing experience.
• Experience with Engel and Sumitomo machines; robot operation a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up molds and startup/adjust molding processes.
• Produce samples for First Piece Inspection and troubleshoot dimensional/visual issues.

Fully capable to work on any molds and all auxiliary equipment. Work withtrainee, as requiredESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES· Start up molds that have been set by the Molding Technician, developing or modifying process parameters as needed· Process mold to produce samples for First Piece Inspection, performing advanced troubleshooting as needed fordimensional or visual issues (flow marks, degradation, splay etc)· Identify improvements to molding process for cavitation, cycle time and parts containment and implement whilemaintaining quality standards· Pull and set molds as needed for production requirements· Troubleshoot molding processes and make adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency· Assist/Train Process Technician I in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of molding defects, as needed· Able to identify tooling issues and submit detailed work order to tool room for repair· Able to identify injection molding machine or auxiliary equipment issues and submit detailed work order to maintenancedepartment for repair· Provide and implement ideas to improve the efficiency of the molding department· Communicate problems, needs and important information to supervisor· Practice good housekeeping and appropriate measures to prevent pollution or other negative impacts on the environment· Performs all documentation as needed· Other duties as assignedEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS· High School diploma or equivalent· 2-5 yearsof experience working with molds (mold setting and injection mold processing) in a manufacturing environmentpreferred· Experience troubleshooting injection molding processes· Experience with forklift and pallet jack operation, preferred· Knowledge of plastic materials and their processing characteristics· Experience with computer controlled machines· Experience with Engel and Sumitomo machines and robot operation, preferred· Formal plastics injection molding training, preferredSKILLS & ABILITIES· Excellent communication skills· Ability to read and understand work instructions· Mechanical aptitude· Use of hand tools and precision measuring/testing instruments· Ability to climb up and down ladders frequentlyWORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDSManufacturing environment.
