Job summary

Nordson EFD is seeking an experienced moldmaker to build new and repair injection molds by fabricating cavities, cores, inserts and components. You will measure parts with gauges, operate mills, lathes, grinders and EDM equipment, and work across molding departments to ensure quality repairs.

The role requires a high school diploma, 8-10 years in molding/manufacturing, and preferred journeyman status or technical training. Strong teamwork and precision are essential in this hands-on position.

  • 8-10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment evaluating, troubleshooting, and building/repairing injection molds.
  • Journeyman status in machining/tooling preferred.
  • Experience with tools ranging 300-13,000lbs and molding machines 80 ton to 770 ton, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build new and repair injection molds by fabricating and machining cavities, cores, inserts, plates and mold components.
  • Operate mills, lathes, grinders, EDM equipment both conventional and CNC.
  • Accurately measure mold components using gauges and other measuring devices to determine fit and machining required.
  • Disassemble tooling and reassemble as required to fit components.
  • Maintain tools and advise supervisor of repairs status and need for accessories.

JOB SUMMARY

Build new and make repairs to injection molds by fabricating and machining cavities, cores, inserts, pins, plates and mold components

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work independently to assess repairs and setup tool room equipment to perform specific tasks
  • Work as team member to build new molds
  • Accurately measure mold components using gauges, jo blocks, comparator, micrometers and other measuring devices to determine fit and machining required to accomplish repairs
  • Operate mills, lathes, grinders, EDM equipment both conventional and CNC
  • Advise supervisor of practical means to accomplish repairs based on assessment of the work required
  • Disassemble tooling and reassemble as required to fit critical components
  • Accomplish assigned repair work in a timely and efficient manner
  • Work within molding and mold prep departments to help repair and assemble tooling
  • Maintain tools and advise supervisor of repairs status and the need for purchased accessories and tooling components
  • Build fixtures, and other devices to support production as required
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 8-10 years' work experience in a manufacturing environment evaluating, troubleshooting, and building/repairing injection molds
  • Technical or vocational school, preferred
  • Journeyman status in machining/tooling, preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Ability to program and operate C.N.C equipment
  • Ability to work from sketches, prints, or samples
  • Ability to interact with other between departments effectively
  • Ability to work as a team member
