Job Description

I. Job Summary

The Process Technician maintains and repairs blow mold and/or injection mold machines during production. They troubleshoot machinery, hot stamp machines, and repair or replace mold parts as needed. Additionally, they assist the Supervisor in achieving production, quality, housekeeping, and safety goals.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Produce quality plastic wheels, lids, and small components for trash cans.
• Adjust injection molding equipment to maintain specifications.
• Set up molds and machines, sample/production molds, and connect water systems.
• Start-up and troubleshoot presses, inspect sample parts, and coordinate with production to meet demand.
• Connect hydraulics and pneumatics for molds, and manage mold heaters and thermocouples.
• Change resins as necessary.
• Assist in training and directing Packer/Inspectors to ensure quality production.
• Record production, downtime, and quality data at shift end.
• Monitor IQMS system and report unsafe or out-of-spec equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot machinery issues during production.
• Reduce waste and scrap rates during mold changes.
• Communicate and coordinate with plant resources for mold changes.
• Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Adjust machine parameters to meet specifications while ensuring safety.
• When not operating machinery, perform Material Handler responsibilities and cover breaks.

III. Qualifications

Must have forklift certification (obtainable on-site), 3-5 years of injection/blow molding experience, 1-3 years of robotics experience, and familiarity with conveyors, sprue pickers, McGuire blenders, and processing HDPE.

• Knowledge of blow molding and injection molding, mold change setup, valve gate injection molding, hot stamping setup, mold labeling, and robotics.
• Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical concepts.
• Ability to work independently with hand tools and multimeter.
• Operate forklift for moving molds and equipment.
