Responsibilities

1. Schedule M-F 7:45am-4:15pm
2. Responsible for the set-up of molding components.
3. Responsible for the set-up and start-up of production machines including conveyors, secondary bottle handling equipment, vision systems, leak detection systems, SPC systems, etc.
4. Submission of bottles for first article approval to QA.
5. Makes stable, repeatable, properly tuned processes of production machines.
6. Makes necessary adjustments to tooling and machines.
7. Safety

• Maintains all machine guards and safety circuits to original condition.
• Makes safety the first priority in all activities.
• Supports the efforts to maintain and improve overall machine condition.

Completes mold PM’s, tooling evaluations, cleaning, assembling and installing molding components and related equipment.

Inputs data into the Mold Data Bank System.

Strives for constant process improvements, production efficiency improvement, and scrap reduction.

Knowledge of and utilization of the Mattec System and its SPC capabilities.

Assists the Production Group Leaders in process improvements.

Assists in the shipping and receiving of molding components.

Assists in maintaining the desired inventory level of the department’s materials.

Completes start-up reports and machine set-up sheets.

Contributes to the team effort.

Supports and adheres to all Berry safety policies.

Follows and supports all Berry GMP’s, maintains housekeeping standards in ownership areas.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Skills

• Must have extensive expertise and be a technology specialist in at least 1 of the 2 process disciplines (Stretch Blow Molding or Extrusion Blow Molding).
• Ability to troubleshoot machines, repair molds/machines, perform start-ups, and submit first articles successfully.
• For SBM: set-up molds, install and level molds, connect air/water/electric, align tooling, troubleshoot process, perform mini-first articles, operate controls, understand PET resin dryers.
• For EBM: set-up molds, install and level molds, connect utilities, install blow pin assemblies, perform scheduled PMs, troubleshoot process, perform mini-first articles, operate controls.
• For SIPA machines: use measurement equipment, identify tooling defects, assist in customer complaint research, follow safety and GMP procedures, provide leadership, and share process knowledge.

Education and/or Experience

• Minimum of 8 years experience in a plastics environment.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• Be able to work 12-hour shifts, work safely around hot plastics and machinery, lift 10-35 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform visual and auditory defect detection.
• Wear PPE as required and follow all safety protocols.
