Job summary

Amcor is seeking a skilled Process Technician to join our manufacturing team. The role involves setting up injection-molding machines, changing materials and colors to align with production schedules, and monitoring startup and quality to ensure efficient operations.

You will respond to QA findings and alarms, coordinate with QA and Maintenance on malfunctions, and maintain safe working conditions on the production floor.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior plastic injection molding experience is highly preferred.
  • Possess or obtain a technical understanding of injection-molding processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Set up machines for operation and change material and color to meet production schedules.
  • Monitor startup and quality; adjust machines to maintain efficiency and quality.
  • Respond to QA and alarms; coordinate with QA and Maintenance on malfunctions.
  • Inspect scrap and record scrap numbers; assist with relief breaks and material handling.
  • Enter production information and ensure smooth shift transitions; follow Lockout/Tagout procedures.

Job description

Job Description Exemplifies the Amcor Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Amcor inside and outside of the plant. Work in a professional manner with other mold technicians and maintenance personnel as needed to keep all equipment in top working order resulting in only quality product being released to the customer.

Set up machines for operation, change material and color to meet production schedules. Must have a technical understanding of process and raw materials used. Keep supervisor/management informed of all problems.

Startup machines and monitor quality at start up. Make appropriate adjustments to machines to maintain efficient production levels and document appropriately. Respond to Quality Assurance Techs by adjusting machines to maintain appropriate sizes and standards.

Review production schedules and ensure machines are running production to meet customer demands. Respond to alarms and/or requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions and/or Operator 1 problems. Use proper Lockout/tagout procedures. Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning machine operations and malfunctions.

Inspect scrap to prevent any usable product from being ground and record scrap numbers. Ability to effectively perform the Operator 1 job to assist with relief breaks. Assist with Material Handling as needed. Maintain a safe working environment. Responsible for ensuring quality and housekeeping standards are maintained.

Complete Process Tech Line Assignment for 12 Hours Sheet (FLKY FCD-00448) every shift. Enter production information into Factbird. Review scrap on assigned machines and report to management. Ensure a smooth transition between shifts. Various other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL, SKILL, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior plastic injection molding experience is highly preferred. Possess or obtain a technical understanding of injection-molding processes and procedures. Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Good hand-eye coordination is required. Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequent exposure to production floor; required use of PPE including but not limited to: Bump Cap, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, Hair/beard nets, Hearing Protection and Disposable Mask. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception. Frequently exposed to fumes, or airborne particles. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts. Good communication skills--verbal and written; must effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers. Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment. Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.
