Job summary

Personnel Consulting Group is seeking a Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer to support and enhance the site’s PSM program in Baton Rouge, LA. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and safety culture, collaborating with operations, maintenance, and leadership.

You will lead hazard analyses, oversee investigations, and drive continuous improvements while ensuring safe operation of plant assets and compliant performance reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in chemical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing.
• 5+ years of experience with PSM systems and programs.
• Experience leading risk assessments and managing projects with budgets over $50,000.
• Strong knowledge of chemical processes, plant operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
• PSM certifications and auditing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve PSM programs, procedures, and systems.
• Lead and participate in process hazard analyses (HAZOPs, PHAs, LOPAs, SIL).
• Conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and execute risk-reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support PSM audits, compliance activities, and performance reporting.
• Provide process safety training and technical guidance to cross-functional teams.
• Manage projects, coordinate stakeholders, and communicate improvement opportunities to site leadership.
