Job Description

Job Title: Quality Control Engineer

Job Location: Aiken, SC

Job Level: Grade 9

Working Pattern: (Full Time) (4) ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work week.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
  • Respond to line calls with immediate corrective action using of PDCA, 5 Whys, 8D and A3 tools.
  • Develop long‑range corrective measures through root‑cause analysis consistent with corporate objectives.
  • Provide accurate and timely data to management regarding quality concerns.
  • Design and implement control plan/inspection routings.
  • Support the procurement and maintenance of gauges and measuring equipment for quality control initiatives throughout the facility.
  • Perform process, machine and gauge capability studies.
  • Keep management abreast of progress, developments & pending problems.
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering and 3 years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering; OR
  • 7 years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of the practical application of quality engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the production of internal combustion engines.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control, raw materials, manufacturing processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of engines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of MTU products
  • Working knowledge of gauge calibration and test equipment

Daily work is performed in a general manufacturing and office environment.

This position has a compressed work schedule that requires four (4) ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work week, and the position is eligible for overtime as business requires with causal overtime expected.

While performing tasks for this position, the employee is regularly requested to perform work on a computer inside and outside of the work environment. Also, the employee will be occasionally requested to come in contact with wet environmental conditions. Finally, the employee will frequently hear noise while performing task in the work environment.

While performing physical demands of the position, regularly the employee will be requested to stand, sit, walk, climb, and stoop. However, the employee will frequently be requested to balance, kneel, crouch, reach, and squat. Finally, an employee will be frequently requested to grasp and manipulate items in a maneuverable manner to perform daily tasks.

Employees will be occasionally required to push, pull, carry, lift and or move materials within the work environment. The materials will weigh between 10-50 pounds, and the employee will be occasionally requested to move materials during the course of a week.

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus and employee must have the ability to see in color. The employee must also be able to inspect MTU America engine products under a fluorescent black light.
