Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Fairfield, CA, is hiring for an Onsite role on a first shift (7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). Overtime may be required. Duties include setting up complex equipment, conducting TPM, handling energetic materials, and ensuring strict safety and quality controls in production.

The ideal candidate will have a HS diploma or GED with at least 1 year of relevant experience and must be able to obtain ATF access. Excellent attention to safety and documentation is essential.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or GED) or vocational/technical education with 1+ year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ATF access.

Responsibilities

  • Ample prep work and tooling setup to build explosive cords.
  • Operate complex equipment manually and remotely.
  • Daily setup of assembly equipment with routine TPM and data logging.
  • Measure with standard instruments and record results.
  • Identify problems and notify supervisor to avoid defects.
  • Communicate safety and mechanical issues promptly.
  • Handle large amounts of energetics with strict safety and inventory control.
  • Follow written procedures and supervisor directions for production tasks.
  • Identify, control and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Read and operate per procedures with trainer guidance.
  • Cleanup machines and areas, transport and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Understand document revisions and standards; stamp operations and read MP prior to starting.
  • Complete data documentation without oversight.
  • Tasks are semi-routine; some judgment required.
  • Requires instructions on new assignments.

Schedule: This position is for 1st shift, Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Overtime is available and/or mandatory on a business need basis.

What You Will Do
  • Ample prep work and critical tooling set up to build explosive cords.
  • Operate numerous and differing complex equipment both manually and remote.
  • Routine daily setup of complex assembly equipment.
  • Must conduct routine TPM, basic maintenance, and careful logging of process parameters on work orders and data sheets.
  • Make precise measurements with standard measuring instruments and balances, remote monitoring software perform basic calculations and record on proper documentation.
  • Be alert to recognizing problems with any of this equipment, and notify their group leader or supervisor as tolerance limits are approached to avoid making defective parts.
  • Communicate potential mechanical and safety problems effectively and immediately.
  • Handle very large amounts of energetics in accordance with safety regulations, while maintaining exact inventory.
  • Perform all production-related work assigned by supervisor or group leader in strict accordance with written procedures
  • Identify, control and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste including solvents, explosives, and lead.
  • Read and operate per Manufacturing Procedure, Job Traveler, and Drawings with guidance from a certified trainer and the engineering and chemistry departments.
  • Cleanup of various machines, tooling, and areas from chemicals and propellants. In-plant transportation, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Understands document revisions and standards governing documenting procedures.
  • Stamps operations, reads MP prior to starting work and any other documented instructions without oversight.
  • Complete documentation of work (i.e. marriage log, data sheet, etc.) without oversight.
  • Tasks are semi-routine in nature, but recognizes the need for some judgment.
  • Requires instructions on new assignments
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

The salary range for this role is $42,099 to $78,708 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
