Job Summary

The Meat Process Operator is responsible for operating computer-controlled process equipment, cookers, machinery, and evaluating process issues, along with performing product quality testing.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties at any time.

1. Oversee rendering process from raw material to finished goods storage.
2. Maintain a steady flow of material to the cooker.
3. Maintain cooker temperature, rate, and steam levels at peak operation.
4. Monitor evaporation rate to meet hourly requirements.
5. Control material flow to presses and storage.
6. Monitor control panels and gauges to ensure proper process functioning.
7. Operate pollution control systems, including air/odor and wastewater systems.
8. Handle boiler startup and operation.
9. Perform periodic preventative maintenance on all equipment.
10. Monitor machinery and report issues to management.
11. Ensure equipment and work area cleanliness after each shift.
12. Prioritize safety in accordance with company policies.
13. Be aware of and responsible for your role in Darling's food safety program, as trained.
14. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural settings.

Qualifications

• Experience in a rendering facility or production environment preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical rendering or process equipment.
• Good mechanical skills and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to handle minor equipment problems.
• Availability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Occasionally push, pull, move, or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Consistently reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Work is conducted in a rendering facility with potential exposure to wet, slippery floors, and high or cold temperatures.
