Responsibilities

• Follow specifications to produce thermoplastic and PVC compounds per safety, health, environment and quality standards.
• Weigh or measure materials to ensure conformance and load blender with raw materials.
• Operate or tend mixing/blending machines and monitor materials from main supply.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas; observe and enforce 5S practices.
• Assist with maintenance and complete required paperwork.
• Stop the process to correct quality, safety, or environmental issues and report to supervisors.

Job Title : Process Operator

Department : Production

Reports To : Process Leader

Summary:

Follow specifications to perform all tasks involved in the production of thermoplastic compounds and polyvinyl chloride compounds in accordance with environmental, health and safety, and quality standards to meet customer requirements.

Essential Functions

• Comply with all environmental, health, safety and quality standards.
• Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, and products to ensure conformance to requirements.
• Load blender with raw materials according to specifications.
• Operate or tend machines to mix or blend.
• Monitor raw materials from main material supply.
• Observe production and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Handle and package product.
• Routinely clean blending, mixing, and packaging equipment.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas (5S).

Other Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Initiate or suggest ideas and support continuous improvement efforts in all areas of organization including quality and environmental, health and safety.
• Test samples of materials or products to ensure compliance with specifications, using test equipment.
• Load and unload trucks as needed.
• Assist with maintenance related activities.
• Complete all paperwork as required.

• Employee must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions:

(b) respond appropriately to instructions from Process Leader

• Employee has the authority to stop the process to correct quality, safety or environmental problems, identify and place suspect product on quality hold, and to promptly notify Supervisory personnel when processes are noncompliant.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED and 3-5 years related work experience preferred.
• Team oriented with ability to function on own.
• Mechanical ability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to become forklift certified.
• Strong focus on follow-up and attention to detail.
