Job summary

DuPont is seeking a Process Operator for its Channahon, IL manufacturing site. You will join a three-person technician team, operate Styrofoam insulation processes, and support safe, efficient plant operations on a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule.

You will perform quality tests, adjust equipment for product changes, and assist with maintenance while upholding EH&S standards and teamwork. Strong math, problem‑solving, and collaboration are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years manufacturing work experience.
• Ability to perform math calculations with or without a calculator.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills in an empowered team.
• Overtime may be required to cover vacancies.
• Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.
• Preferred: 2-year Technical/Trade Degree in Process Technology, Mechanical or Electrical.

As a Process Operator you will be a high performing member of a three-person team of Process Technicians. Under the leadership of the Site Production Leader and Operations Leader, you will operate assigned areas of the Styrofoam® insulation plant in a safe, environmentally responsible and efficient manner, and perform minor maintenance activities. This position operates on a 12‑hr rotating shift schedule (3, 2, 2 rotating shift) and will work on assignments in all areas of a tobacco‑free plant campus.

As a Process Operator, you will:

• Meet behavior expectations in the areas of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), quality, productivity, and teamwork and actively participate in continuous improvement efforts
• Interface with process control computers to optimize and troubleshoot product quality and equipment operations
• Perform standard and non-routine testing of product quality
• Manually set up and adjust process equipment for product changes
• Safely perform manual operations such as cutting foam during start-ups/jam-ups, manually stacking and grinding foam, and filling solids additive feeders
• Perform on‑shift minor maintenance, predictive/preventive maintenance (PPM), breakdown repair, and scheduled shutdown/turnaround activities

Qualifications:

• Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years manufacturing work experience
• Must be capable of performing simple math computations involving ratios and fractions with or without a calculator
• Must possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and be capable of working in an empowered team environment
• Overtime is required to cover vacancies due to illness, vacation of other team members, and scheduled meetings
• Must have a current, valid, US driver’s license
• Strongly Preferred: 2-year Technical/Trade Degree in Process Technology, Mechanical or electrical field
• Professional experience demonstrating adept process operations, mechanical or electrical aptitude

Physical Qualifications:

• Must be willing and able to work in environments that include: working in tight or closed-in spaces, climbing stairs/ladders, working at heights, standing or walking for extended periods of time, frequent bending, reaching, and lifting, working outdoors in conditions that may dirty clothing or include inclement weather
• Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment, such as respirators, earplugs, goggles, hard‑hat, steel‑toed shoes, and long sleeve FRC (safety equipment will be provided by DuPont)
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and possess full dexterity of the wrists and hands.
• Must be able to use hand tools and operate valves and similar equipment routinely.
