Job Description

The Process Engineering Technician position is located in Hillsboro, Oregon. The position's main objective is to support the process engineering and cleanroom facilities through various “hands on” tasks and operation of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The candidate must be able to follow detailed instructions and exhibit a strong mechanical aptitude. The technician should be able to independently perform and understand routine tasks, and capable of providing frequent status updates to the process engineering team. Continued training may be given to develop specific skills, knowledge, and techniques. The technician is interfacing with and developing relationships with co-workers and managers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partners with Process Engineering team to achieve operational goals, including experiment disposition and maintaining tool operations.
  • Responsible for performing technical tests and experiments in the plasma etch demonstration lab in support of process engineering development activities.
  • Daily activities will include a wide range of tasks including tool operation and data collection utilizing plasma etchers, thin film tools, wafer inspection tools, CD-SEM, and additional tools as needed.
  • Responsible for general cleanroom operations including dispositioning etch requests for maximum efficiency, weekly tool qualifications and SPC reporting, FOUP management, wafer inventory, and demo supply management.
  • Perform independent/unassisted tool maintenance as needed, including wet cleans and system changes. Manage spares and swap parts inventory.
  • Assist in troubleshooting down lab equipment. When required, assist with various activities of the Lab Support team addressing cleanroom facilities issues.
  • Act as etch or support tool owner. Capable of supporting complex operations (ie.
    Startup/shutdown, recipe setup, tool recovery, etc).
  • Capable of training new resources.
  • Help drive procedural improvement with management support.
  • Ability to perform an unassisted non-toxic gas bottle change. Provide support for other toxic gas systems work.
  • Follow all defined protocol and ability to work a minimum of 8hrs in a cleanroom environment, wearing cleanroom garments. May include extended periods of standing and sitting.
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation for all work performed.
  • Complete assigned training programs.
  • Protect and maintain company property (i.e., spares inventory, company computers, test equipment, tools, etc.). Perform routine audits to ensure appropriate appearance and cleanliness levels are maintained.
  • Participate in safety forums and the site safety team as required.
  • This role requires the ability to get SCBA certified and maintain certification with an annual refresher.
  • Responsible for handling of acids, solvents, and compressed gases.
EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • GED required. A 2-year degree is but candidates with technical experience working with various semiconductor facilities equipment and/or semiconductor manufacturing equipment (preferably in etch) will be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently.
  • Must possess strong technical skills and the ability to read electrical schematics, use test equipment and apply basic math skills associated with electronics.
  • Ability to learn, operate, and maintain all lab equipment.
  • Strongly driven and self-motivated, and ability to focus on both accuracy as well as output in a complex work environment. Demonstrate tolerance of ambiguity, flexibility to adapt to new situations, be dependable and independent, as well as work within a team and support each other.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively and professionally interact with internal customers, external customers and vendors. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic. (On time to work and training, on time completion of assignments, strong preparation for assignments, effective teamwork, etc.).
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate information to vendors, customers, and manager regarding lab issues, activities, and schedules.
  • Ability to adapt to new procedures concerning work in the facility. Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Ability to work overtime, shift work, and/or flexible schedule as needed.
  • Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements
  • Perform all responsibilities in a safe manner, protecting self as well as others.
  • Portray professionalism and pride in appearance while conforming to policy.
