About the job Process Engineering Manager

Position Overview:

As the Process Engineering Manager, you will oversee and manage the process engineering team to ensure efficient and effective operation of battery cell manufacturing processes. Your focus will include the coating and mixing processes and will involve optimization, team leadership, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, Production, and Maintenance, to troubleshoot process issues and maintain the highest standards of product quality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the process engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Set performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback and support.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in battery cell coating and mixing to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of existing processes and develop strategies for optimization and cost reduction.
  • Utilize data-driven methodologies to identify and resolve process bottlenecks.
  • Manage and oversee process engineering projects from conception to implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance in battery cell coating and assembly processes, including electrode coating, calendaring, drying, and cell assembly.
  • Ensure all processes comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to develop and implement robust quality control measures and process validation protocols.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for process-related issues.
  • Develop and implement effective solutions to prevent recurrence of process issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in process engineering, with a focus on battery cell coating or mixing processes.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of implementing process improvements.
  • In-depth knowledge of battery cell coating and / or mixing processes and equipment.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, SPC).
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to battery cell manufacturing.
