Context/Scope:
Position requires strong knowledge of plant operations, including liquid processing, distillation, procurement, and project management. Leadership and communication skills are critical. The candidate should be innovative, capable of maintaining momentum, and able to prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic environment. The role requires understanding business needs across technical, plant, finance, and procurement functions in the US, Canada, and US Virgin Islands.
Purpose of Role:
Lead process and utilities programs for projects and strategic initiatives across North America. Support planning, design, implementation, and management of systems; provide engineering and project management support to manufacturing and related functions. Develop data collection systems for continuous feedback and assist with capital and expense project preparations.
Decision Making & Financial Responsibility
Evaluate engineering solutions, make decisions within projects, negotiate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Outputs
- Lead project budgets and objectives, develop standardized project management practices, and communicate project status to partners.
- Assist in design, installation, commissioning, and improvement of beverage process equipment.
- Support implementation of plant equipment to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
- Collaborate with plants and OEMs for efficient operations and process projects.
- Review process flow piping and P&IDs, identify and audit process equipment.
- Support process improvements across various manufacturing stages.
- Use structured problem solving to identify root causes of deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with GMP and ISO standards.
- Author documentation such as SOPs, validation protocols, and change requests.
- Maintain knowledge of cGMPs and regulatory concerns.
- Provide onsite support during process scale-up, launches, and full production.
- Assist with process investigations and product impact assessments.
- Create equipment and process specifications and drawings.
- Develop project justifications and proposals for capital projects.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency, safety, quality, and cost improvements.
- Guide site engineering on design and specifications.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and develop feasibility studies and capital plans.
- Understand manufacturing processes and recommend technological improvements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical or process preferred).
- 5-7 years of experience in process design for food and beverage facilities, including P&IDs and process flow diagrams; distillation experience is a plus.
- Experience sizing and specifying process and utility equipment.
- Experience developing project scope, budgets, and schedules.
- Experience with professional services and food/beverage industry standards is beneficial.
- Interest in food safety and sanitary design principles.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate on-site construction (up to 40%).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP knowledge is helpful.
