Job summary

Garver's Water Design Center in Fayetteville, AR invites MSc or PhD engineering students in Environmental, Chemical, or Biological Engineering to join as Process Interns. You will gain hands-on experience in design and analysis for water treatment projects and contribute to community-focused solutions.

Under supervision, you will assist with plant assessments, process design tasks, data review, and modeling to develop professional skills in a collaborative, office-based setting.

Qualifications

• Candidates pursuing an environmental engineering, biological engineering, civil engineering, or chemical engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with water and wastewater treatment plant assessment and design.
• Assist with improvements and retrofitting of existing treatment facilities.
• Assist with the design of water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Data review and analysis; mass balance, hydraulic modelling, and process modelling.

Internship Description:

Assist with WDC projects including -

• Water and wastewater treatment plant assessment and design.
• Improvements and retrofitting of existing treatment facilities.
• Assist with the design of water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Some examples of design tasks are:
• Assist in the development of detailed designs for various water and wastewater treatment facilities
• Data review and analysis
• Mass balance, hydraulic modeling, and process modeling
• Water and wastewater treatment equipment design such as large-scale blowers, pumps, filters, membranes, UV disinfection, etc.

Work Environment

This is an in‑office position; duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting. Occasional travel to off‑site locations to perform work and work‑related tasks or to attend meetings may be required.
