Job summary

MLC in Alabama is seeking a Process Engineering Co-Op to support Engineering, Operations and Maintenance teams by improving manufacturing processes, plant performance and safety across our facilities.

You’ll collect and analyze production data, assist with engineering calculations and trials, support capital projects, and develop reports for leadership while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• Sophomore standing or higher pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2.75 GPA.
• Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing, mining, and chemical processing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze production, quality, and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Assist with engineering calculations, process evaluations, and performance studies.
• Participate in troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis investigations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, reliability, and productivity.
• Assist with capital and plant improvement projects, including field inspections and startup activities.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to support plant objectives.
• Participate in plant trials and evaluate results to support data-driven decision making.
• Develop reports, recommendations, and presentations for engineering and plant leadership.
