Job summary

AkzoNobel is hiring a Process Engineer in High Point, NC. The role focuses on root cause analysis, process optimization, and implementation of quality systems to support manufacturing excellence.

The candidate will work with SAP and Microsoft Office, bring 2–5 years of CI/Process/Project Engineering experience, and contribute to capital projects with hands-on SME involvement.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering for related fields (Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Industrial, Automation).
  • 2–5 years experience in CI, Process Engineering or Project Engineering.
  • Able to work with solvents, machinery and computer systems.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency; SAP experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Root Cause Analysis on chronic product problems and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Monitor process performance using metrics such as RFT, MME, OEE, and drive improvements.
  • Identify, design, coordinate and employ statistical evaluations (MSA, DOE, Capability Analysis, RCA).
  • Provide quality and manufacturing support to meet program needs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the plant-wide QMS and SOPs.

Key Respnsibilities
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis on chronic product problems and implement corrective/preventive actions which result in meeting plant goals.
  • Monitors the process performance through metrics such as RFT, MME, OEE, cost productivity, customer complaints, Waste Indices and takes action as required to correct adverse trends, performing plant based process investigations
  • Identify, design, coordinate and employ statistical evaluations utilizing the Akzonobel Lean System guideline. This will include MSA, DOE, Capability Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Provide quality and manufacturing support as required to meet specific program needs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the plant wide Quality Management System (QMS) through maintenance and develop of SOP, One Point Lessons and Failure Mode documents
  • Assist in specification development and/or changes as requested.
  • Organizes meetings with Sales, Technical Business Partners, QC, Productions and Material Planning, to enable process initiatives such as Variable Manufacturing Cost reduction, stock optimization, cycle time reduction and capacity increase.
  • Provides expertise for on site operations group during process related troubleshooting issues- hands on with production operators, QC and maintenance technicians, working as SME of specific equipment or cell.
  • For capital projects, executes process studies, contributes to pre-projects and performs initial project scoping and business case development, handing over to the project group for execution (except minor projects, <250k).
  • During project execution, plays a major role in commissioning,start-up and training, and then owning the technology for the site.
  • Multiple concurrent projects at any time varying from small to large ($250K) in scope.

  • Reviews data and is a self starter for troubleshooting and coordinating with managers
  • Determines when to escalation issues to the next level
  • Manages own workload and switches between projects from different departments
Job Requirements
  • BS in Engineering: Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Industrial, Automation or correlated is required
  • 2-5 years experience in CI, Process Engineering or Project Engineering
  • Able to work with solvents, machinery and computer systems
  • Microsoft Office Package proficiency
  • SAP Experience desired

The salary range for these skills is: $89,000 to $103,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.

This role eligible for an annual bonustarget of 7.5%, based on individual and company performance.
