Job summary

Avicena Tech in Sunnyvale seeks a Process Engineer-Wet and Dry Etch to own and optimize etch processes in a fast-paced environment. You will manage acid/solvent benches and ICP tools, developing and sustaining wet/dry etch, clean and lift-off processes.

Applicants should have an MS or PhD in a related field, 5+ years of industrial experience, and hands-on plasma etch and wet process expertise, with strong documentation and safety in a cleanroom.

Responsibilities

• Own wet and dry etch processes on acid/solvent benches and ICP tools.
• Control bath chemistry, temperature, concentration and bath life.
• Drive process control through SPC; keep equipment and processes in spec for production.
• Characterize etch rate, uniformity and selectivity.
• Own lift-off process including wafer and substrate level.
• Identify areas to reduce cycle time and improve consistency.
• Work with integration and other process engineers to develop new processes.
• Characterize processes and components using metrology tools, profilometers, SEM and testers.

This is a hands-on position in a very fast-paced environment. You will own wet and dry etch process, acid and solvent benches and ICP tools. You will develop, sustain and improve wet and dry etch, clean and lift off processes.

Responsibilities

• Own wet and dry etch processes on the acid/solvent benches and ICP tools.
• Control bath chemistry, temperature, concentration and bath life.
• Drive process control through SPC. Make sure equipment and processes are in spec for production.
• Characterize etch rate, uniformity and selectivity.
• Own lift off process including wafer level and custom substrate level.
• Identify areas of improvement to reduce cycle time and process consistency.
• Work closely with integration and other process engineers to develop new processes based on the requirements.
• Characterize processes and components using semiconductor metrology tools, profilometers, interferometers, SEM, electrical testers and optical testers.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of related industrial experience.
• Hands-on experience with plasma etch and wet processes.
• Extremely organized, data-driven, and detail-oriented, with a strong desire to maintain thorough documentation and a baseline.
• Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and communicate significantly complex engineering problems through documentation and regular presentations to senior and executive staff members.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a cleanroom environment.
• Prior experience of wafer fab processes.
• Work in a cleanroom in full gowning for extended periods.
