Responsibilities

Study engineering prints, drawings, models, and specs to obtain data on proposed part.
Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
Determine tool requirements and sequence of operations to manufacture parts.
Estimate operation times and routing; indicate machines, tools and fixtures used.
Observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
Confer with personnel to implement operation procedures and resolve malfunctions.
Analyze work study data to establish time and production standards.
Apply industrial engineering principles to evaluate methods and costs.

Summary

Plans and coordinates manufacturing process of an industrial establishment and develops work measurement procedures and performs time-and-motion studies to promote efficient and economical utilization of personnel and facilities by performing the following duties.

Summary

Essential Functions

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Studies engineering prints, drawings, models, and other specifications to obtain data on proposed part.
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
Applies knowledge of functions and processes of various departments and capacities of machines and equipment to determine tool requirements and establish sequence of operations to manufacture parts.
Lists routing of operations to be performed. Indicates machines, cutting tools, fixtures, and other equipment to be used, and estimates times needed to perform each operation.
Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
Confers with establishment personnel to implement operation procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
Confers with workers in other departments to provide technical information.
Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
Directs or conducts observation and analysis of personnel and work procedures to determine time-and-motion requirements of job duties.
Analyzes work study data and equipment specifications to establish time and production standards.
Applies mathematical analysis to determine validity and reliability of sampling and work study statistics.
Applies principles of industrial engineering and applied psychology to evaluate work methods proposals and to develop recommendations to management affecting work methods, wage rates, and budget decisions.
