Job summary

Birmingham Search Group is seeking a manufacturing professional in Michigan to evaluate processes and configure systems to reduce costs and improve sustainability within production.

The role focuses on developing tooling and source packages, improving process capability, and supporting pre-production transitions while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 3 years in automotive manufacturing (Preferred).
  • 3 years in PLEX (Preferred).
  • 3 years in Laser (Preferred).
  • 3 years in Welding (Preferred).
  • 3 years in stamping (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Creates/manages project timelines to optimize processes in manufacturing systems.
  • Understands drawings, GD&T, and concept processes for tooling, fixtures, and source packages.
  • Improves process capability and production volume while maintaining quality.
  • Supports development of projects related to manufacturing equipment, materials and fastening.
  • Collaborates with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop cost-effective processes.
  • Assists in pre-production process development for a seamless production transition.
  • Maintains testing equipment.
  • Communicates data in structured reports.
  • Researches and purchases new manufacturing technology.
  • Creates and executes equipment training procedures.
  • Participates in Team, Supplier and Customer Meetings as necessary.
  • Uses PLEX to support on-time project execution and budget tracking.
  • Promotes safety and ethics; maintains a clean, compliant work environment.

Evaluates existing processes and configures manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in an effective manner with customers, clients, suppliers, and employees.

  • Creates/manages project timelines to optimize processes in manufacturing systems.
  • Understands and works with equipment drawings/schematics and product GD&T to concept processes which lead to the development of tooling, fixtures, manufacturing equipment and source packages for new projects.
  • Understands equipment controls and functions to improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
  • Supports the development of projects related to manufacturing equipment, materials and fastening.
  • Works with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop cost-effective and working production process.
  • Assists in the development, planning and execution of pre-production process development to ensure a seamless transition to production.
  • Maintains testing equipment.
  • Communicates data collected and recorded both verbally and in structured report format.
  • Researches and purchases new manufacturing technology.
  • Creates and executes equipment training procedures for new and existing equipment.
  • Participates in Team, Supplier and Customer Meetings as necessary.
  • Utilizes PLEX to support on-time project execution and budget tracking.
  • Acts as a good steward of the Companys resources and exemplifies the values of the Company.
  • Ensures personal compliance with all Company policies, procedures, values, ethics, and rules.
  • Maintains and promotes a safe work environment through ownership of Company safety program. This includes following and enforcing all safety rules/regulations and proper operating procedures, as well as the proper use of prescribed safety equipment pertinent to the department, and immediately reporting all accidents/incidents to supervisor and Human Resources.

  • Actively participates in and successfully completes appropriate training and that all training provided is evaluated and that proper documentation is provided for accurate maintenance of the employees training record.
  • Meets with supervisor at least once per year to review job performance using this job description as a basis for appraisal.
  • Maintains complete security and confidentiality of all Company records and employee data.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and professional work environment.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned
  • Education: Bachelor's (Required)

    • Manufacturing (Automotive Industry) : 3 years (Preferred)
    • PLEX: 3 years (Preferred)
    • Laser: 3 years (Preferred)
    • Welding: 3 years (Preferred)
    • Stamping: 3 years (Preferred)
