Job summary

Westlake Chemical Corporation is seeking a Process Engineer at our Salisbury, NC facility to champion process engineering initiatives aimed at safety, productivity and efficiency. The role requires collaborating with R&D, Manufacturing and quality teams to implement improvements across extrusion and related processes.

Candidates should have a BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and 3–5 years of hands-on experience in polymer processing, with strong data analysis and problem-solving

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited BS required in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials or Industrial Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on process engineering experience, preferably in polymer injection molding and extrusion.
  • Strong data-driven decision making and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and professionalism in all activities and hold others accountable.
  • Partner with R&D and Manufacturing to bring new products to market using gated processes.
  • Assist in capital equipment budget planning and improving production techniques.
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders to plan and develop new products and address production issues.
  • Analyze data with statistical software and communicate results clearly.
  • Develop and trial new material compounds to meet productivity goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement of production processes to enhance rates and reduce scrap.
  • Maintain records of compound formulations and properties; coordinate trials.
