Job summary

ATI in Monroe, NC is seeking a Process Engineer to lead and optimize hot working processes for Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel products. Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Metallurgy or Materials Science & Engineering.
  • Internships or co-op experience in metals-related industry.
  • Preferred: 1+ year metals-related industry experience.
  • Understanding of wrought metal processing (melting, forging, hot rolling, heat treatment).
  • Knowledge of basic statistics and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Technical lead for post-melt processes including open die press forging, radial forging, and hot rolling.
  • Develop and maintain metallurgical and operational expertise for Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel alloys.
  • Lead cross-functional programs to improve yield, cost, and cycle time.
  • Resolve non-conformances and reduce scrap.
  • Apply thermal/deformation modeling to evaluate products and processes.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality to improve safety and product quality.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities (risk assessments, 5-Why, CEDAC, process mapping, audits, standard work).
  • Support customers by collecting and analyzing thermo-mechanical processing data.
  • Support Product Engineering and R&D in development and standardization of new products and processes.
  • Provide technical support during customer audits.
