Job summary

ATI in Monroe, NC is seeking a Process Engineer to lead and optimize hot working processes for Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel alloys. You will drive thermo-mechanical processing improvements, quality, and safety while standardizing new and existing products.

You will provide technical leadership across post-melt operations, collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality, and apply data-driven methods to improve yields, cycle times, and process reliability on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science & Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in a metals-related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Technical lead for post-melt processes including open-die press forging, GFM radial forging, and hot rolling.
  • Develop and maintain metallurgical and operational expertise in thermo-mechanical processing of Nickel, Titanium, and Specialty Steel alloys, and impact on material properties.
  • Lead and support programs to continuously improve process yields, cost, cycle time, and resolve process-related non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality personnel to develop improvements to manufacturing processes and standards (KCCs) that enhance safety, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Lead and support team-based continuous improvement activities including risk assessments, 5-why problem solving, CEDAC, process mapping, process audits, and standard work.
  • Support internal/external customers by analyzing thermo-mechanical processing data to associate process parameters and material quality.
  • Support Product Engineering and R&D in the development, evaluation and standardization of new products and processes.
  • Apply thermal/deformation modeling to evaluate and improve products and processes.
  • Provide technical support during customer audits.
