Job summary

Wieland North America, Inc in East Alton, IL is seeking a Process Engineer to develop and improve manufacturing methods for copper and copper alloys, including casting, rolling, annealing, and slitting. The role emphasizes hands-on optimization and data-driven problem solving in a fully on-site setting.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical/Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical/Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering highly preferred.
• Familiar with manufacturing, safety and quality concepts, practices and procedures.
• Ability to concisely communicate (verbal and written) technical information and strong organizational skills.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements is preferred.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute, evaluate and control optimizations across process, product, machine and equipment; identify inefficiencies and propose solutions.
• Plan trials, execute and evaluate results; report conclusions and recommendations.
• Promote a quality culture by applying process management principles and developing reaction plans.
• Identify and implement activities to reduce scrap and improve yield; review data and drive actions.
• Support Quality by designing and guaranteeing standards, creating work and process instructions, and managing non-conforming material.
• Utilize and coach statistical tools (Fishbone, 5Why, FMEA) for data-driven problem solving with operations and maintenance teams.
