Job summary

Balchem Corporation in Defiance, OH is seeking a Process Engineer to provide technical leadership for design standards, process capabilities, scale-ups, hazard analyses, and continuous improvements across the site’s production and packaging functions.

You will plan, support, and where applicable, execute engineering deliverables, collaborate with R&D and corporate engineering, and mentor teams while maintaining strong safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical or biosystems engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong safety orientation and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient in ERP and basic software tools.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and TPM systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to enable new product or process development with cross-functional teams.
• Identify and implement improvements to existing processes and support hazard analyses.
• Design experiments to reduce variation and validate changes.
• Develop scopes, P&IDs, drawings, and control narratives for process improvements.
• Create and review preventive maintenance plans and SOPs.
• Lead and mentor other engineers and operators on projects.
• Stay updated on manufacturing technology trends and apply to design requirements.
• Provide technical support for material handling, CIP, and liquid & powder processing.
