Job summary

Charter Casting Shawano offers a summer Process Engineer Internship to gain hands-on experience in data analysis, project management, and process improvement. You'll work with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Excel, and Office 365 on real engineering projects.

Enrollment in a 4-year Mechanical Engineering program with sophomore status, a 2.75+ GPA, and strong communication skills are required. This paid internship includes mentorship, development workshops, and networking opportunities.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a four-year mechanical engineering program, with Sophomore status.
• Minimum 2.75 GPA or higher.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Support core and finishing process improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to enhance safety, quality, delivery and productivity.
• Assist with designing machine upgrades.
• Complete designs and layouts for equipment and structures.
• Work with maintenance to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Apply engineering principles to design and material selection.

From government and defense customers to agricultural and heavy truck equipment manufacturers, and an array of companies who need pumps, valves and compressors, Charter Casting works with its customers to create custom castings that are both efficient and cost-effective.

About the Process Engineer Internship:

Gain hands-on experience in data analysis, project management, and process improvement while developing technical skills in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Excel, and Microsoft Office 365. Strengthen your communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through real-world engineering projects.

Program Structure:

• Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer
• Location: Shawano, WI
• Start Date: May 2027
• Duration: Summer internship

What we're looking for:

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with current status of at least a Sophomore level
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Ability to succeed in a team environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks

Preferred experience:

• AutoCAD and Solid Works
• Knowledge of mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatic)
• Data analysis and problem solving techniques
