Mativ in Lowville, NY is seeking a Process Engineer Intern for a 10-week May 2027 program. The role provides exposure to operations, multi-functional teams, and hands-on process experience within a paper or paper-based materials setting.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in Paper Science, Chemistry, or Engineering, with strong Excel skills, initiative, and the ability to analyze information and communicate findings.

Formación

  • Enrolled toward a degree in Paper Science, Chemistry, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 full year coursework completed (2 years preferred).
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong initiative and drive with curiosity to learn.
  • Able to analyze information to identify opportunities and communicate findings.

Responsabilidades

  • Follow safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
  • Assist with process efficiency improvements and cost savings.
  • Update mill documentation and drawings.
  • Identify paper defects and develop resolution plans.
  • Participate in new customer or product trials.
  • Attend leadership meetings and report on assigned tasks.
  • Help modify or create standard operating procedures.
  • Support mill management project work.

Process Engineer Intern - NY

Starting Pay: $22.00-$25.00/hr.,depending on experience

Schedule:This is typically a Monday through Fridaydaytime role, but evening and weekend work may berequired.

Mativ is actively pursuing a process engineer intern witha Paper Science, Chemistry or Engineeringbackground to complete a10-weekinternshipprogram at our Lowville Mill starting inMay2027.TheInternwill provide exposure to many aspects of operations including a multi-functional team setting,real-timeproduction, process experience and project work with specific deliverables and exposure to the mill leadership team.Internwillparticipatein mill and production line operations to learn technical properties and quality issues of paper or paper-based materials.

Ideal candidates will possess high initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business. Key requirements include the ability to analyze information to find opportunities, effectively communicate, and work collaboratively in a team setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
  • Work with theteam on process efficiency improvements, costsavingsand/or technology advancement.
  • Update existing mill documentation and drawings.
  • Identify paper defects anddevelop plans to resolve them.
  • Participate in new customer or new product trials.
  • Attend meetings with leadershipteamandreport outonassigned tasks.
  • Work with leadership to modifyor create standard operating procedures.
  • Project work asassigned by mill management.
Qualifications:

Required

  • Individualmust be currently enrolled and working toward a degree with a concentration inaPaper Science, Chemistry orEngineering discipline.
  • Completion ofa minimum of 1-full year of course work with preference for individuals who have completed 2-full years.
  • Must have solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Ideal candidates willpossesshigh initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business.
  • Key requirements include the ability to analyze information to find opportunities, effectively synthesize and communicate findings, and work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Abilityto pass pre-employment physical capabilities test, pre-employment drug/alcoholscreeninganda backgroundcheck.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability and willingness to meet ouroperators where theirwork is done on the operating floorand wear required PPE when doing so.
Preferred
  • Preference is a minimum3.0 GPA in your academic field of study.
  • Prior internship experience
REQUIRED SKILLS/ ABILITIES:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to balance multiple assignments at once.
  • Whileperforming the routine duties of this position, the candidate must be able to stand, sit, walk, talk, bend, twist, balance andpossessgood close vision and depth perception.
