Mativ is seeking a Process Engineer Intern for a 10-week program at our Lowville Mill, starting May 2027. The intern will gain exposure to operations, real-time production, and project work within a multi-functional team, with leadership involvement.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in Paper Science, Chemistry, or Engineering, with strong Excel skills and a proactive mindset to learn and improve. Safety training and PPE are required on the mill floor.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled toward a degree in Paper Science, Chemistry, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 full year of coursework; preference for 2 years.
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • High initiative and drive with a curiosity to learn and improve our business.
  • Ability to analyze information, synthesize findings and communicate.
  • Pass pre-employment screening; be at least 18; PPE on the operating floor.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
  • Assist with process efficiency improvements and technology advancement.
  • Update mill documentation and drawings.
  • Identify paper defects and develop resolution plans.
  • Participate in new customer or product trials.
  • Attend leadership meetings and report on tasks.
  • Support the creation or modification of standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to mill projects as assigned by management.

Process Engineer Intern - NY

Starting Pay : $22.00-$25.00/hr.,depending on experience

Schedule :This is typically a Monday through Fridaydaytime role, but evening and weekend work may berequired.

Mativ is actively pursuing a process engineer intern witha Paper Science, Chemistry or Engineeringbackground to complete a10-weekinternshipprogram at our Lowville Mill starting inMay2027.TheInternwill provide exposure to many aspects of operations including a multi-functional team setting,real-timeproduction, process experience and project work with specific deliverables and exposure to the mill leadership team.Internwillparticipatein mill and production line operations to learn technical properties and quality issues of paper or paper-based materials.

Ideal candidates willpossesshigh initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business. Key requirements include the ability to analyze information to find opportunities, effectively communicate, and work collaboratively in a team setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment .
  • Work with theteam on process efficiency improvements, costsavingsand/or technology advancement.
  • Update existing mill documentation and drawings.
  • Identify paper defects anddevelop plans to resolve them.

  • Work with leadership to modifyor create standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Individualmust be currently enrolled and working toward a degree with a concentration inaPaper Science, Chemistry orEngineering discipline.
  • Completion ofa minimum of 1-full year of course work with preference for individuals who have completed 2-full years.
  • Must have solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Ideal candidates willpossesshigh initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business.
  • Key requirements include the ability to analyze information to find opportunities, effectively synthesize and communicate findings, and work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Abilityto pass pre-employment physical capabilities test, pre-employment drug/alcoholscreeninganda backgroundcheck.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability and willingness tomeet ouroperators where theirwork is done on the operating floorand wear required PPE when doing so.

Preferred

  • Preference is aminimum3.0 GPA in your academic field of study.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to balance multiple assignments at once.
  • Whileperforming the routine duties of this position, the candidate must be able to stand, sit, walk, talk, bend, twist, balance andpossessgood close vision and depth perception.
