Job summary

Pretium Packaging in St. Louis, Missouri, is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer for our plant. The role supports plant leadership, optimizes process molding lines, analyzes defects, and implements solutions to meet quality standards and productivity goals.

You’ll collaborate across departments to start up equipment, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements in safety and efficiency. This position requires mechanical/plastics engineering background and travel within the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in mechanical/plastics engineering or related field.
• Reheat blow process and automation experience.
• Experience with Aoki (ISBM/IBM/IM), Uniloy (IBM), and Zhongya (IM).
• Root cause analysis and trouble-shooting experience.
• Experience with setting oven profiles.
• Infeed and outfeed conveyor experience.
• Effective leadership skills and ability to lead project teams.
• Lean Manufacturing practices experience.
• Willingness to travel regionally and train as needed.

Responsibilities

• Start up new and existing equipment, check out system for proper operation, calibrate equipment, perform loop checks, troubleshoot, and resolve system problems.
• Respond to emergency work order requests, troubleshoot, and analyze systems, investigate problems, check software/hardware defects and verify operation.
• Direct the installation of new systems to ensure specification and safety compliance by personnel and vendors.
• Define internal quality control plan including gauging methods and inspection frequency.
• Assist production with new project set-ups, tool changes and program adjustments.
• Troubleshoot production problems, propose alternatives to meet schedules and maintain quality.
• Modify existing systems, redesign software and circuitry to meet project objectives.
• Recommend improvements for safe and reliable equipment operation on new lines.
• Review daily check sheets for accuracy and action required.
• Monitor changeovers to ensure proper completion and deviations follow-up.
• Ensure preventive maintenance is performed and documented.
• Maintain good housekeeping and safe practices in the department.
• Ensure weekly setup sheets are completed and deviations reviewed.
• Investigate and resolve product quality problems as needed.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment breakdowns and replace components.
• Set up molding machines, align molds, set cycles, adjust parameters for efficiency.
