A Day in the Life of the Process Engineer III

In this role, you'll dig into the root causes of failures and defects across ceramic materials processes, from milling and tape casting to thick film printing, lamination, and cutting. You'll design and run experiments, build out process controls, and train the team on how to use them, all in service of higher yields, better quality, and lower costs. It's hands-on, detail-driven work that directly shapes how efficiently and reliably the company gets products out the door.

Responsibilities include:
  • Investigating root causes of failures and defects and developing process controls to prevent recurrence
  • Monitoring critical process parameters and driving improvements in yield, throughput, and cost
  • Building basic knowledge and familiarity with dispersion milling, tape casting, thick film pastes, screen printing, lamination, cutting, and casting
  • Identifying component parts of processes and equipment, and recognizing the factors that affect performance
  • Running hands-on, in-process experiments, including equipment operation
  • Designing and executing Design of Experiments (DOE) and reporting results
  • Authoring specifications and procedures
  • Setting up process controls and training personnel on their use
  • Leading projects to introduce new technology that improves process performance and reduces costs
  • Keeping work areas clean, organized, and reset for production use after each use
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment per company standards
  • Supporting cross-training initiatives and providing coverage as needed
  • Mentoring junior engineers and providing oversight on projects led by other engineering/manufacturing staff
  • Handling confidential information with proper security and privacy practices
  • Taking on additional duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Ceramics and Materials or related field); Master's degree preferred (Ceramics, Materials, Chemistry, Physics, or related)
  • 3+ years of experience in general manufacturing processes such as ceramics formulation, thick film printing, lamination, and cutting
  • Demonstrated ability to support medium- to high-volume manufacturing while improving yield and quality on new products and ramping from pilot to volume production
  • Experience in ceramics, electronics, semiconductor, aerospace, defense, medical, or similar industries
  • Self‑motivated with strong focus and the ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
