Job summary

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting. Responsibilities include monitoring plant efficiencies, analyzing process data, and leading equipment modifications.

Process Engineer – Fixx Energy

Fixx Energy is seeking a Process Engineer to join our team in Smyrna, TN. This is a full‑time, on‑site position at our battery plant.

About the Role

The Process Engineer will be responsible for safe, efficient operation and maintenance of all plant equipment. You will maintain plant efficiencies, procure monitoring equipment, recommend preventative maintenance, work cross‑functionally with Operations, Maintenance and Quality to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Do
  • Monitor plant efficiencies and recommend adjustments to site management.
  • Analyze process data to troubleshoot issues and maximize performance.
  • Respond to operational needs and lead equipment performance evaluations.
  • Write clear, accurate procedures for manufacturing employees.
  • Develop process sheets for assigned areas.
  • Support process and design changes, trial parts, and Kaizen activities.
  • Lead equipment acquisition or modifications for new model launches.
  • Represent engineering in cross‑functional activities involving Facilities, Controls, etc.
  • Apply data‑driven problem‑solving methodology and present results to all management levels.
  • Conduct regular safety and process audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical).
  • 1–3 years of experience in a high‑volume manufacturing facility.
  • Self‑motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, problem‑solving techniques, and process control management.
  • Familiarity with DOE and proficiency in Minitab or JMP.
  • Quick learning of lithium‑ion battery fundamentals.
  • Intermediate‑to‑advanced skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, OneNote, SharePoint).
  • Strong time management, ability to juggle changing priorities.
  • Experience with new‑model equipment design, installation, commissioning.
  • Project‑management experience introducing products to market.
  • Leadership of contractors through RFP to commissioning.
  • Works independently and follows direction in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, presentations.
  • Information gathering, tracking, consolidation skills.
  • Scheduling coordination using Outlook, Google Calendar, Office 365.
  • Excellent oral and written communication; simplifies complex information.
  • Collaborative in cross‑functional teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Teams.
  • Technical math skills to solve real‑world problems.
  • Leading teams across cultural and discipline boundaries.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor. The environment involves some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. Employees must be able to perform all essential functions on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
