Location: Charlotte, NC Area at plant in Midland, NC
Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Midland, NC
Pay Rate: up to $43/hr BOE
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Contract Duration: 12 months
Education: BS Minimum in engineering/science
Training:
Will require 4-6 weeks of training activities in Wilmington, NC on company travel to start.

Description
Process Development Engineer responsible for working within teams to optimize new process equipment and/or machines for improved manufacturing capability for new or existing products, reduced cost, or optimized output.
Scope May Include the Following:
Improving process or equipment implemented by R&D and/or developing new equipment capability from concept to prototype to manufacturing demonstration.
Adapting existing manufacturing equipment to improve capability, enable use for new or alternate products, and/or scale-up for increased capacity or lower cost.
Utilizing fundamental machine design principles and defining/testing protocols to validate equipment capability.
Engaging corporate scientists and engineering resources for modeling and equipment testing to guide and validate designs.
Collaborating with Product and Quality Engineering for process and machine qualification, and Manufacturing groups to ensure safety, operational, and maintenance requirements are met.
Teamwork to accomplish objectives can be either via functional or matrix leadership.
~20% travel possible to Wilmington, NC area for 4-6 weeks of training initially, with incremental travel for meetings or experimentation.
Required Skills:
Working knowledge of physical phenomena (static and dynamic physics, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, etc.) with a strong background in machine design.
Ability to work with other engineering disciplines (Chemical, Electrical, Materials) to create prototype and industrial process equipment design solutions.
Knowledge/experience in materials processing equipment.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Ability to design and carry out experiments.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Understanding of material properties and capabilities for use in machine design.
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
Experience:
3+ Years in relevant engineering fields.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Develop understanding of process and equipment functions in area of responsibility.
Communicate effectively with project managers, production teams, plant leadership, and other stakeholders in various forms.
Significant time spent on the production floor working on equipment.
Lead initial setup, debug, and startup of equipment and automated systems, including hands-on work, to the point of turnover to operations.
Perform hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, chemical, and electrical systems, directing engineers and technicians as necessary.
Provide training to engineers and technicians on new equipment procedures.
Develop new and/or modify existing equipment/process designs to improve efficiency, product quality, environmental compliance, and raw material/energy usage.
Assess and optimize existing equipment for fit, function, and improved performance.
Provide direction for redesigning systems to solve performance issues and improve robustness.
Ensure updated documentation exists for all affected equipment and processes.
