As the Process Engineer II, you will optimize and enhance manufacturing processes to achieve the highest quality and efficiency in pharmaceutical production by leveraging your expertise in engineering principles, process design, and regulatory compliance. This role involves ensuring adherence to cGMP requirements, supporting validation teams, driving process improvement initiatives, and managing engineering activities on the production floor. Additionally, you will play an active role in cross-functional teams, utilizing tactical task organization to execute projects on time and maintaining a strong customer focus through effective communication with peers, user groups, senior management, and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality
  • Identify and resolve process-related issues in a timely manner to minimize production downtime
  • Ensure all processes comply with industry regulations, including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and FDA guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of process changes, validations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality Assurance, Validation to support process improvements and new product introductions
  • Provide training and support to production staff on new processes and equipment
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering in mechanical, chemical, or electrical disciplines.
  • Minimum three (3) years of engineering experience in a pharmaceutical industry setting is preferred, with a focus on aseptic processing and lyophilization.
  • Knowledge of GMP requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, interact, and collaborate with internal and external members.
  • Strong analytical skills, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and the capability to utilize analysis software and company quality system software.
  • Must be flexible to work weekends, off hours, and occasional holidays as needed to support continuous operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods within the manufacturing plant.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and tools, typically weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, and reaching to access equipment.
  • Keen eyesight for detailed inspection and tasks.
  • Adequate hearing ability to perceive alarms, and machinery sounds.
  • Occasionally required to climb ladders or stairs to access equipment.
  • Ability to work in various plant environment, including clean rooms, laboratories, and production areas, sometimes requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).

Role will be based in Parsippany, NJ.

Our Compensation and Benefits

At Ferring, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $61,750 to $143,000, which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education and primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.

Benefits for this role include: comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees; a 401k plan and company match; short and long-term disability coverage; basic life insurance; wellness benefits; reimbursement for certain tuition expenses; sick time frontloaded yearly of 40 hours, or higher if state or local law requires; vacation time for full time employees to accrue between 112.5 and 150 hours yearly in the first four (4) years of employment, and additional accruals starting in the fifth (5th) year of employment; and 12 to 13 paid holidays per year. We are proud to offer paid parental leave subject to a minimum period of employment at Ferring. For roles that are not field-based, Ferring has a policy that allows employees to work up to two days from home and three at a Ferring site, weekly.
