Job summary

OxyChem, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking a Process Engineer for our Wichita manufacturing plant. You will lead process improvements to increase production capacity, improve reliability, and reduce costs while ensuring safety and environmental compliance.

The role requires a chemical engineering background, 5 years of manufacturing experience, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. Weekend work and on-call readiness may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering; 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience preferred.
• Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Ability to work weekends/holidays and respond to callouts.
• Physical ability to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and wear PPE including a respirator.
• Ability to respond to visual and audible alarms.

Responsibilities

• Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and communities as the highest priority.
• Identify, evaluate, develop, specify, justify, install, and start-up process improvements to increase production capacity, improve operating reliability, reduce manufacturing costs, reduce energy usage, conserve raw materials, improve product yields and quality.
• Participate in opportunities to enhance safety, upgrade environmental safeguards, and optimize process operation.
• Provide ongoing engineering assistance to operations including troubleshooting, testing, reports, and status updates.
• Coordinate between Production, Project, Maintenance and Corporate Engineering on capital projects and documentation.
• Represent or assist production and engineering in vendor evaluation, coordination and control for services, materials, and equipment.
