Job summary

OxyChem is seeking an experienced Chemical Operator for our Wichita facility to support safe, efficient production of essential chemicals. You will monitor process conditions, inspect equipment, log readings, and coordinate with maintenance to ensure operational reliability and environmental integrity.

The role requires flexibility for rotating shifts, willingness to respond to callouts, and the ability to work in a safety‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Process Technology Degree or 2 years relevant experience preferred.
• Proficient in math, reading comprehension and mechanical reasoning.
• Ability to work a rotating shift, weekends, holidays, overtime and callouts.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Proficient with Microsoft applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Physical: lift up to 40 lbs, climb stairs, wear PPE including respirator.

Responsibilities

• Maintain environmental protection and safety as top priority.
• Conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot problems and respond to emergencies.
• Operate field equipment and monitor process conditions via instrumentation.
• Record readings, lab results, shift production needs and equipment issues.
• Initiate work requests, perform minor maintenance and prep equipment for maintenance.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance, including lockout and permits.
• Make minor repairs and notify teams of malfunctions.
• Coordinate with supervision, maintenance and engineering on process issues.
