Job summary

OxyChem, a Berkshire Hathaway company, seeks a Plant Process Engineer with a chemical engineering background and 5+ years of plant experience. You will manage safety, cost reduction, and capital budgets while coordinating outages and maintenance across the site in Texas.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, plus proficiency in MS Office and SAP, are required. Flexibility to respond to emergencies and non-routine calls is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Chemical).
• Minimum of five years plant process experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to read, write and speak English; respond to off-hour emergencies.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and callouts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain environment protection and health and safety as top priority.
• Develop and manage programs to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Manage capital budget; coordinate with project engineering to design and install new processes.
• Oversee production plan for shutdowns and develop shutdown/start-up plans.
• Provide technical assistance to process supervisors during shutdowns.
• Set directions on key parameters, safety issues, and cost control.
• Develop annual operating budget and monitor fixed cost performance.
• Coordinate outages with management, suppliers, and customers.
• Schedule routine and capital maintenance work.
