Job summary

IKO Industries Ltd. is seeking a Process Engineer to monitor, control, and optimize manufacturing processes ensuring safe, efficient operations.

Responsibilities include batch handling, furnace operations, process control systems, and driving continuous improvements with a safety-first approach. Qualifications include a mechanical or chemical engineering degree plus 3–5 years in process engineering within manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with coating processes, wet formed fiberglass mat processes, or similar manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Strong technical writing skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC).
  • Lean Six Sigma skills and experience preferred.
  • Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple short- and long-term projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to follow direction and specific instructions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to safely perform heavy lifting up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Comfortable with standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand 90% of the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate exceptional attendance and reliability.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; promote safe work practices.
  • Monitor and maintain proper batch storage, delivery, weighing, and mixing.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control and raw material carriers to approve unloading of materials.
  • Evaluate batch plant control system data and make adjustments to maintain process efficiency and control.
  • Monitor and control furnace and forehearth operations to ensure optimal glass formation and throughput.
  • Monitor and adjust critical process variables including gas firing, electric boost power, pressure, temperature, flow rates, oxygen, bubblers, glass level, and batch line.
  • Inspect furnace and forehearths at required intervals and address identified issues.
  • Assist with furnace changes, upsets, start-ups, shutdowns, repairs, and rebuilds.
  • Guide and support maintenance personnel during batch and furnace repairs.
  • Perform minor repairs and process adjustments as required.
  • Maintain exceptional housekeeping and organization in all assigned areas including batch house, furnace levels, and control room.
  • General housekeeping duties.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisory staff.
