Job summary

AGY in South Carolina is seeking a skilled Hot Operations Process Engineer to optimize glass fiberization processes, improve efficiency, product quality, and equipment reliability, while prioritizing safety and continuous improvement.

You will lead process improvement initiatives, collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering and Quality teams, and serve as the technical expert in troubleshooting and data-driven decision making; oversee hourly staff and drive ISO documentation and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years as a Process or Manufacturing Engineer.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem solving.
• Proven leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Data-driven mindset with ability to prioritize tasks.
• Expertise in formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques.
• Proficiency in statistical process control software.
• Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Minimal travel required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and address safety concerns within the glass fiberization area.
• Analyze and organize data to pinpoint sources of process inefficiencies and waste.
• Utilize structured improvement methodologies to lead quality and process enhancements.
• Lead small teams of hourly employees to implement process changes and audits.
• Monitor, trend, and optimize process KPIs for stability and capability.
• Serve as the technical expert in glass fiberizing operations and troubleshooting.
• Prepare and present comprehensive reports on process performance metrics.
• Collaborate with Maintenance & Engineering to improve reliability via preventive maintenance.
• Work with Quality Engineers to address quality and efficiency challenges.
• Partner with suppliers to resolve performance and quality concerns.
• Develop and maintain ISO-controlled documentation and conduct internal ISO audits.

• Partner with equipment and material suppliers to resolve performance and quality concerns.
• Develop and maintain ISO-controlled documentation while conducting internal ISO audits.
