Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Pennsylvania is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing/Process Engineer to monitor production data and support engineering analysis within a manufacturing environment.

The role involves troubleshooting process and equipment issues, supporting yield and quality improvements, and collaborating with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams on continuous improvement projects. A DOE‑oriented mindset is valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials, science or Physics required.
  • 0–1 years of related engineering, manufacturing, research, internship, or co‑op experience.
  • Semiconductor, vacuum systems, materials processing, or advanced manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Exposure to statistical analysis or process improvement methodologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor process performance and collect production data for engineering analysis.
  • Assist with troubleshooting process, equipment, and quality issues within manufacturing operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Maintains process documentation, work instructions, and engineering records.
  • Assist with process qualifications, equipment testing, and validation activities.
  • Support data analysis and reporting using statistical and quality tools.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to address manufacturing challenges.
  • Participates in DOE activities and process improvement projects under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Prepares technical summaries, reports, and presentations as assigned.

Job description

Education & Experience

Working Conditions
  • Office and clean room environment within the manufacturing plant, involving working with small to large equipment and exposure to low‑level microwave energy and other hazardous chemicals.
Physical Requirements
  • Extended periods of sitting or standing
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Able to perform physical tasks in various positions: standing, crouching, kneeling, reaching
  • Some travel required
