Flame Spray is seeking a Process Engineer to optimize production processes, qualify new products, and ensure customer and quality requirements are met. You’ll analyze data, interpret drawings, and collaborate across departments to drive efficiency and cost effectiveness.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a relevant engineering field, strong problem solving and communication skills, and occasional travel. This on-site position offers opportunities to lead pilot qualifications and support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a focus on materials or processes.
  • Strong problem solving and clear communication required.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings and production data.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and optimize production processes to meet capacity changes.
  • Analyze production and lab data to align efforts across teams.
  • Collaborate with customers to modify products and meet technical needs.
  • Review specs and drawings to ensure feasibility.
  • Lead qualification projects including kick-offs and pilots.
  • Provide tools, programs, and masking solutions for new products.
  • Support production and quality teams in troubleshooting workflows.
  • Maintain indicators and operational instructions for continuous improvement.

Position Summary
Are you a problem solver with a passion for optimizing processes and driving innovation? As our Process Engineer, you'll be at the heart of qualifying new products and enhancing production operations. Your mission will be to ensure customer technical and quality requirements are met, while maximizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You'll also play a vital role in resolving technical challenges and collaborating across teams to ensure seamless production.

Primary Functions
As a key player in our engineering and production efforts, you will:

  • Coordinate and Innovate: Lead activities within the Engineering Department, adapting processes to meet capacity changes.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze production and lab data to align efforts across departments.
  • Collaborate with Customers: Work directly with customers to modify products and meet their technical needs.
  • Blueprint and Spec Analysis: Review product specs, drawings, and quality control requirements to ensure feasibility.
  • Project Leadership: Oversee the entire qualification process, including planning kick-off meetings, Manufacturing Process Plans, First Piece Qualification, and Pilot Lot Qualification.
  • Technical Support: Provide tools, robotic programs, and masking solutions for new products, ensuring smooth transitions into production.
  • Production Partnership: Support production and quality teams to troubleshoot and refine workflows.
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain indicators, prepare operational instructions, and support quality, safety, and environmental certifications.

  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to contribute to company success.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
What you bring to the table:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • A deep understanding of technical production processes and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a sense of urgency, and clear, concise communication.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is a plus.
  • Physical capability to lift 50 pounds and sit at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (up to 10%).
  • A team-oriented attitude and adaptability to both climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled environments.
Working Conditions

This position is an inside position working approximately 50% of the time in a climate-controlled environment and 50% of the time in a non-climate controlled environment.
