Job summary

Saint-Gobain’s CertainTeed division seeks a Process Engineer to support the Technical and Quality teams in refining manufacturing processes for roofing production. You will apply SPC, Lean, and DOE to reduce variation, improve yields, and drive continuous improvement across operations.

You will collaborate with operations, maintenance and quality to troubleshoot, implement CAPAs, and train teammates on process control and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 2–3+ years manufacturing or process engineering experience required.
• 1+ year in a manufacturing/industrial environment required.
• Roofing/building materials experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and data-driven problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply SPC, DOE and other statistical tools to reduce process variation.
• Develop and optimize industrial processes from inception through startup.
• Troubleshoot with operations, maintenance and quality teams; implement CAPAs.
• Conduct process flow studies and simulations to spot bottlenecks.
• Provide documentation, operating instructions and training to teammates.
• Lead Lean, Six Sigma and TPM initiatives for cost reduction and yield gains.
• Introduce new technologies, materials and methods to improve efficiency.
• Coordinate production trials with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Work with Technical and Quality Manager to ensure SPC deployment and monitoring.
• Coordinate capital projects to improve production line efficiency.
• Foster cross-functional teamwork and mentor teammates on best practices.

Job description

The Process Engineer supports the Technical and Quality team in refining and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure maximum efficiency, reliability, and product quality. This role will apply engineering principles, statistical process control (SPC), and Lean methodologies to reduce variation, improve yields, minimize waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the roofing manufacturing operation.

Safety & Environmenta

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture; ensure strict adherence to all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments; actively participate in incident and near-miss investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Support environmental compliance through adherence to waste management, recycling responsibilities, and reporting requirements.

Process Optimization & Quality

• Analyze production data and apply SPC, DOE, and other statistical tools to identify and eliminate process variation.
• Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through startup and stabilization.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues, implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and improve process capability.
• Conduct process flow studies and system simulations to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
• Provide clear process documentation, operating instructions, and training to hourly and salaried teammates.
• Lead and support Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM initiatives to drive cost reduction, yield improvement, and throughput gains.
• Introduce and integrate new technologies, raw materials, and methods to improve efficiency and product performance.
• Plan, coordinate, and evaluate production trials in collaboration with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Work closely with the Technical and Quality Manager to ensure consistent SPC deployment and process monitoring.
• Coordinate with Engineering teams on capital projects that increase the efficiency of the production line
• Build strong cross-functional relationships to drive teamwork and problem-solving.
• Mentor and coach team members in best practices for process control, quality, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Community of Partnership leaders to support various projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead site project implementations and sharing of best practices.

• 2-3+ Years Manufacturing or Process Engineering (Required)
• 1+ Years Experience in a manufacturing/ industrial environment (Required)
