Job summary

Hollingsworth & Vose, a global leader in filtration and energy storage solutions, is seeking a Process Engineer to lead planned projects, drive continual process improvements, and support manufacturing operations.

You will apply Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles to carding and nanofiber processes, design production trials, monitor KPIs, and collaborate with operations, maintenance and R&D to improve quality, reduce waste and increase throughput.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years designing and optimizing manufacturing processes.
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience
  • Nanofiber and carding experience preferred
  • Hands-on with operating teams, maintenance and R&D
  • Data-driven with basic statistics and statistical process control
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and controls in manufacturing
  • Advanced MS Excel/Word/Access/Minitab skills

Responsibilities

  • Leadership for development and continual improvement of manufacturing process systems, focusing on carding and nanofiber processes.
  • Develop and implement production equipment maintenance practices and monitor KPIs.
  • Lead process and project capital expenditures.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance within process engineering.
  • Design, manage and execute production trials and support R&D trials.
  • Perform other duties as required

The Process Engineer will lead and support planned projects/improvements and identify opportunities for continual process improvements for the H&V Operations.

To be successful in this role, you will plan, develop and implement solutions for improvements using sound engineering principles, Six Sigma methodology, and Lean manufacturing techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leadership for development and continual improvement of manufacturing process systems, technologies, and practices with particular emphasis on carding and nanofiber processes by improving product quality, reducing variation, minimizing waste, reducing costs, improving reliability, increasing efficiency, increasing throughput, improving customer satisfaction, and increasing skills of employees
  • Leadership in the development and continual improvement of production equipment maintenance practices and procedures by monitoring KPI’s and being data driven
  • Leadership in management of process and project specific capital expenditures
  • Leadership of safety and environmental compliance and best practices within the process engineering function
  • Design, manage, and execute production trials and support R&D trials as needed
  • Other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other technical discipline
  • Flexible, self‑motivated, and team oriented
  • 3+ years of experience designing and optimizing manufacturing processes preferably in a continuous, nonwovens, or rolled goods manufacturing process
  • Nanofiber experience preferred Carding experience preferred
  • Hands‑on technical approach with operating teams, maintenance, and R&D
  • Data driven with experience in basic statistics and statistical process control
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and controls associated with manufacturing processes
  • Lean, six‑sigma experience
  • Advanced computer skills required, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Minitab
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT
  • Position requires 50% of the responsibilities to be carried out on the manufacturing floor overseeing the processing and bonding of synthetic nanofibers with non‑woven substrates.
  • Some travel may be required.
