Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Rocky Mount, VA, seeks a Process Engineer/Industrial Engineer to improve labor utilization, work balance, capacity and productivity on the Rocky Mount Model Line.

The role collaborates with Operations to identify losses, develop engineered solutions, validate improvements and establish sustainable operating standards on the shop floor, including Yamazumi and takt/capacity analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• Experience with data analysis, work measurement, capacity analysis or process improvement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to work effectively on the manufacturing floor with hourly employees and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Conduct time studies, work-element observations and work measurement.
• Establish cycle-time, labor and capacity baselines.
• Calculate takt time, capacity, labor requirements and production constraints.
• Develop current- and future-state Yamazumi/work-balance analysis.
• Identify bottlenecks, workload imbalance and capacity constraints.
• Support standard work and ergonomic improvements.
• Analyze operator walking, reaching, handling and motion.
• Evaluate layouts and process flow for improved future-state configurations.
• Support material flow analysis including routes, buffers and replenishment.
• Establish credible before/after measurements for improvements.
• Partner with Finance to validate productivity, labor, overtime, inventory and measurable benefits.

Job Description

The Process Engineer / Industrial Engineer provides the analytical and engineering capability required to improve labor utilization, work balance, capacity, ergonomics, productivity and process/material flow within the Rocky Mount Model Line.

The role will work directly with Operations and pillar teams to identify losses, develop engineered solutions, validate improvements and establish sustainable operating standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct time studies, work-element observations and work measurement.
• Establish cycle-time, labor and capacity baselines.
• Calculate takt time, capacity, labor requirements and production constraints.
• Develop current- and future-state Yamazumi/work-balance analysis.
• Identify bottlenecks, workload imbalance and capacity constraints.
• Analyze value-added and non-value-added activity (VAA/NVAA).
• Support development and validation of standard work.
• Analyze operator walking, reaching, handling and motion.
• Identify and implement ergonomic improvements.
• Evaluate layouts and process flow and develop improved future-state configurations.
• Support Material Flow analysis including routes, replenishment, buffers, material presentation and capacity.
• Apply structured problem-solving and data analysis to manufacturing losses.
• Support Kaizen and rapid-improvement activity.
• Establish credible before/after measurements for improvements.
• Partner with Finance to validate productivity, labor, overtime, inventory and other measurable benefits.
• Develop reporting and measurement systems that make performance and improvement sustainable.
• Support replication of successful Model Line solutions.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant manufacturing/industrial-engineering experience, depending on Cornerstone HR requirements.
• Manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, process improvement or related experience.
• Experience with data analysis, work measurement, capacity analysis or process improvement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to work effectively on the manufacturing floor with both hourly employees and leadership.

Preferred

• Experience with time study, line balancing, standard work, Yamazumi, takt/capacity analysis, ergonomics or VSM.
• Lean/Six Sigma/WCM/TPS or continuous-improvement experience.
• Advanced Excel/data-analysis capability.
• Experience supporting Kaizen or productivity improvement.

Additional Information

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 - $100,000 + bonus + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. (Full-time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week.)
