Job summary

CHT USA is seeking a Process Engineer to design, develop, and maintain safe, sustainable processes that boost reliability and capacity through LEAN/Six Sigma principles. The role also ensures PSM compliance and coordinates with R&D, safety, and production as part of a cross-functional team.

Travel may be required; you will manage capital projects, partner with external contractors, and translate business goals into actionable process improvements across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years of process engineering with a project management focus.
• Experience with PSM programs and safe handling of hazardous chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with R&D to lead process improvement on production.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Process Engineer role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining safe and sustainable processes to optimize process flow, increase process reliability, and improve operating capacity and capability through the use of LEAN/Six Sigma principles. Responsible for maintaining facility PSM program and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Propose and execute property improvement projects to support long term business strategy. Utilize local and national partners to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely completion of improvements with adherence to local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines. Manage directed projects to safety, budgetary, and startup deadline targets. Ensure CHT USA compliance with CHT corporate requirements and strategies and execute technology transfers between sites. Moderate travel may be required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with R&D to direct and assist with process improvement projects involving current production processes and those related to new product development.
• Coordinate with safety, quality, regulatory, and production colleagues to ensure safety of personnel and sustainability of manufacturing processes.
• Uses technical knowledge and industry expertise to review existing manufacturing production lines and to scale up new products and plan cost-effective production processes.
• Plan and conduct product and process improvement experiments.
• Coordinate with maintenance department to ensure activities are supporting the overall business strategy.
• Recommends and executes change including documentation.
• Provide training and support for maintenance and production personnel during startups and changes related to process improvements.
• Propose and oversee outside contractors as needed to complete projects.
• Execute the department directed capital projects to meet cash flow and strategic objectives in accordance with the capital investment plan.
• Work with finance department to manage spending to targets, close projects, and capitalize properly to ensure asset ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
• Support SOP creation, implementation, and sustainability.
• All other duties, as assigned

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Chemical Engineering or related field
• 1-3 years of process engineering with a project management focus
• 1-3 years of experience in chemical blending (preferably emulsion manufacturing and/or silicone manufacturing)
• Experience with PSM programs and safe storage/handling/disposal of highly hazardous chemicals

Knowledge & Skills

• Capable of working independently to manage day-to-day tasks
• Advanced user type understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 & suites: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Familiarity with an ERP solution (i.e. SAP, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics ERP, etc.)
• Creativity in approaching complex challenges and problems
