Job summary

Armacell is seeking a Process Engineer to join our engineering team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Process Engineering. You will support quality and process control with data analysis, develop test methods, and provide material properties for equipment selection, while collaborating on Early Product Management projects.

The role emphasizes leading training, driving process improvements, and ensuring product conformance through standardized work, audits, and cross-functional coordination

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemistry, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with extruders and World Class Manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead training across Worldclass Armacell Mindset pillars, concepts, tools and methods.
  • Adherence to Plant Processes; conduct daily Safety, 5S and Process Audits.
  • Lead cost-reduction projects to improve plant profitability.
  • Plan and manage process-improvement projects with management and work groups.
  • Communicate project results and accomplishments to plant management.

The Process Engineer is a key technical member of the engineering team reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Process Engineering. This opportunity collaborates with the technical team in the maintenance and development of processes that produce material conforming to specified dimensional and functional properties. This includes supporting Quality & Process Control with data analysis, specification setting, and developing test methods to ensure product conformance. The opportunity will also support the technical team for Early Product Management projects and provide Plant Engineering with material properties and processing parameters to aid in equipment selection.

Job Responsibility
  • Lead training efforts in educating and training all team members in various Worldclass Armacell Mindset (WAM) Pillars, concepts, tools and methods.
  • Adherence to Plant Processes managing systems and Standard Work. Conduct daily Safety, 5S and Process Audits.
  • Lead relevant cost reduction projects for assigned department to support overall plant efforts to drive down costs and improve plant profitability.
  • Strategize with management to initiate process improvement projects. Determine the scope, objectives, metrics, cost, schedule and necessary resource requirements.
  • Coordinate the planning and execution, from start to completion, of Process Improvement projects working side by side with work area management and associated work groups to fully implement and ensure sustaining mechanisms are in place.
  • Proactively involve employees at all levels of the organization to gain their input and support.
  • Drive the completion of tasks generated in project meetings and monitor sustaining activities to ensure successful and timely completion of action items.
  • Communicate results and accomplishments of projects to plant management and team members.
  • Benchmark industry best practices to identify future improvements and opportunities.
  • Plan and formulate aspects of improvement proposals such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements.
  • Standard Operating Procedure creation and management.
  • Meet budget, time and performance requirements of technical processes and formulations.
  • Interact with technical and production team on a daily basis to ensure product meets the performance and cost requirements.
  • Attend and actively participate in industry association, plant, global and technical meetings as necessary.
Job Knowledge/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry / Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Prior extruder experience preferred
  • Prior experience in a World Class Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Demonstrate willingness to work hands-on with processes
  • Demonstrate visible leadership on the plant floor and all levels of the organization with the ability to influence colleagues and different levels in the organization required.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Armacell in the US

The expected compensation range for this role is $80,000.00 - $95,000.00.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience, and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
