Job summary

MACOM is seeking a Process Engineer to enhance their manufacturing processes in Nashua, NH. This role requires substantial experience, particularly in microwave electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, alongside a strong educational background in relevant disciplines.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Improve MTATesting/assembly process flow.
  • Conduct yield analysis and address low-yield events.
  • Innovate and maintain fixtures and auto handlers.
  • Perform capacity and capability studies.
  • Manage cost-reduction programs.

Skills

Knowledge of microwave electronics and/or semiconductor manufacturing
Automatic wire bonding and die attach experience
Training operators in process operations
Knowledge in materials for chip and wire assemblies
Knowledge of SMT devices and processing

Education

BS or Master in EE, Physics, Materials Science or related discipline

Job description

Process Engineer
Required Skills
  • Knowledge of microwave electronics and/or semiconductor manufacturing is a plus.
  • Automatic wire bonding and die attach experience is required.
  • Capable of following manufacturing procedures and performing hands‑on assembly of manufacturing prototypes.
  • Capable of training operators in process operations.
  • Knowledge in materials associated with chip and wire assemblies (silver epoxies, bonding wire, encapsulants).
  • Knowledge of SMT devices and processing (PCBA assemblies).
Duties
  • Continuing improvement of MTATesting / assembly process flow.
  • Yield analysis and low‑yield events for opto and RF parts.
  • Innovation and maintenance of the fixture and auto handlers.
  • Capacity and capability studies and analysis.
  • Cost‑reduction programs.
  • General process / product sustaining activities.
  • BoM/ drawing / router ownership for production‑released products.
Job Complexity
  • Works on assignments that are difficult in nature, requiring judgment in resolving issues and making recommendations.
Supervision
  • Normally receives minimal instructions on all work. Works under supervision.
Experience
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
Education
  • BS or Master in EE, Physics, Materials Science or related discipline.
  • Preferred relevant internships in microelectronics assembly.
  • Computer literate with basic programming skills.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, only U.S. Persons will be considered for this position.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively to vendors, customers and other employees.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve technical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
